Privacy Policy
Last updated: December 10, 2025

This Privacy Policy describes how Goldie Dog Essentials (“Goldie Dog Essentials”, the “Company”, the “Site”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, and otherwise processes your personal information when you visit, use our services, or make a purchase from goldiedogessentials.com (the “Site”) or otherwise communicate with us (collectively, the “Services”).

For purposes of this Privacy Policy, “you” and “your” means you as the user of the Services, whether you are a customer, website visitor, or another individual whose information we have collected.

By using or accessing any of the Services, you agree to the collection, use, and disclosure of your personal information as described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to this Privacy Policy, please do not use or access the Services.

1. Scope and Applicable Laws

Our Services are primarily directed to individuals located in the United States and Canada, and we sell and ship products only to those countries. However, individuals from other jurisdictions may also access the Site.

This Privacy Policy is intended to address our obligations under applicable privacy laws, to the extent they apply to our processing of personal information, including certain U.S. state privacy laws (such as the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (“CCPA/CPRA”) and similar laws in other U.S. states) and Canadian privacy laws such as the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (“PIPEDA”).

Please also review our Terms of Service, which govern your use of the Services and include important terms regarding limitations of liability and dispute resolution.

2. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, including to reflect changes to our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. When we make changes, we will post the revised Privacy Policy on the Site and update the “Last updated” date above.

If we make material changes, we may also provide additional notice (such as by email to registered users or by displaying a prominent notice on the Site), as required by applicable law.

3. Personal Information We Collect

To provide the Services, we collect and, over the past 12 months, have collected personal information about you from a variety of sources, as set out below. The information that we collect and use varies depending on how you interact with us.

When we use the term “personal information,” we are referring to information that identifies, relates to, describes, or can be reasonably associated with you.

3.1 Information You Provide Directly

Information that you directly submit to us through our Services may include:

  • Basic contact details such as your name, billing address, shipping address, phone number, and email address.

  • Order information including products purchased, order history, payment confirmation, shipping details, and related transactional information.

  • Account information such as your username, password, and any security information associated with your account, if you create one.

  • Shopping information including the items you view, add to your cart, or add to your wishlist.

  • Customer support information including the information you choose to include in communications with us, for example when you send a message through the Site, email us, or otherwise contact customer support.

Some features of the Services may require you to provide certain information about yourself. You may choose not to provide this information, but doing so may prevent you from using or accessing these features.

3.2 Information Collected Automatically (Cookies and Usage Data)

We and our service providers automatically collect certain information about your interaction with the Services (“Usage Data”). To do this, we use cookies, pixels, web beacons, and similar technologies (“Cookies”). Usage Data may include:

  • Device and browser information (device type, operating system, browser type, browser language, and settings).

  • Network and connection information (IP address, internet service provider, referring URLs).

  • Information about how you interact with the Site and your account (pages viewed, links clicked, time spent, referring/exit pages, session information, and other activity on the Services).

  • General location information derived from your IP address (e.g., city, state/province, or region).

We may associate this Usage Data with other information we have about you, such as your account or order history.

3.3 Information We Obtain From Third Parties

We may obtain personal information about you from third parties, including vendors and service providers who collect information on our behalf, such as:

  • E-commerce platform provider: We use Shopify to power our online store. Shopify may collect information in connection with your use of the Site and provide it to us (for example, device information, transaction information, and certain usage data).

  • Payment processors: Our payment processors collect payment information (e.g., credit or debit card number, bank account details, billing address) to process your payment and complete your order.

  • Analytics and advertising partners: We use tools and services offered by Google (such as Google Analytics and Google Ads), Meta (Facebook/Instagram advertising and pixel), and Klaviyo (email analytics and related tracking) to help us understand how users interact with our Site and marketing and to show you relevant ads. These partners may provide us with aggregated reports and insights and may also allow us to build advertising audiences.

  • Email and marketing service providers: We use Klaviyo to send emails and measure engagement (for example, whether you open an email or click on a link).

Any information we obtain from third parties will be treated in accordance with this Privacy Policy. We are not responsible for the accuracy of information provided to us by third parties or for any third party’s policies or practices. For more information, see Third Party Websites and Links below.

4. How We Use Your Personal Information

In addition to the specific uses described below, we may use any of the personal information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate, maintain, and improve the Services;

  • Communicate with you;

  • Comply with applicable legal obligations;

  • Enforce applicable terms and policies; and

  • Protect or defend the Services, our rights, and the rights of our users or others.

4.1 Providing Products and Services

We use your personal information to provide you with the Services and perform our contract with you, including to:

  • Process and fulfill your orders, returns, and exchanges;

  • Process your payments and send you payment confirmations;

  • Create, maintain, and manage your account;

  • Arrange for shipping and delivery of products;

  • Facilitate product reviews and other features you choose to use; and

  • Communicate with you regarding your account, purchases, returns, exchanges, and other transactions.

4.2 Marketing and Advertising (Google, Meta, Klaviyo)

We use your personal information for marketing and promotional purposes, including to:

  • Send you marketing, advertising, and promotional communications by email, text message, or postal mail;

  • Show you advertisements for our products or services on our Site and on other websites, apps, and platforms;

  • Understand how our marketing campaigns perform (for example, which emails are opened and which links are clicked); and

  • Build and evaluate advertising audiences (for example, creating lists for retargeting ads or lookalike audiences).

To do this, we use:

  • Google tools (such as Google Analytics and Google Ads) to understand how visitors use our Site and to serve ads on Google and its partners’ sites.

  • Meta tools (such as the Facebook/Instagram pixel and advertising tools) to measure conversions and show ads to visitors or similar audiences on Meta platforms.

  • Klaviyo to send marketing emails, track performance (opens, clicks), and, where applicable, build or sync audiences with advertising platforms.

In some U.S. states, our sharing of personal information with these partners for cross-context behavioral advertising or targeted advertising may be considered a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. Your rights and choices in relation to this are described in Section 7 (Sale, Sharing, and Targeted Advertising – U.S. State Law).

You can opt out of certain marketing communications as described in Your Rights and Choices below.

4.3 Security and Fraud Prevention

We use your personal information to detect, investigate, and take action regarding possible fraudulent, illegal, or malicious activity. For example, we may use information about your device and interactions with the Services to:

  • Monitor for suspicious transactions or account activity;

  • Help secure the Services and our systems; and

  • Enforce our Terms of Service and other policies.

If you choose to use the Services and register an account, you are responsible for keeping your account credentials safe. We strongly recommend that you do not share your username, password, or other access details with anyone else. If you believe your account has been compromised, please contact us immediately.

4.4 Communicating With You and Customer Support

We use your personal information to:

  • Provide customer support;

  • Respond to your inquiries and requests;

  • Address complaints and feedback; and

  • Improve our Services, products, and customer experience.

These activities are in our legitimate interests to be responsive, maintain our relationship with you, and operate our business.

5. Cookies and Similar Technologies

Like many websites, we use Cookies and similar technologies on our Site.

5.1 Types of Cookies We Use

We may use the following categories of Cookies:

  • Strictly necessary Cookies: Required for the operation of our Site (for example, enabling basic functions like page navigation, shopping cart, and checkout). Without these, the Site may not function properly.

  • Performance and analytics Cookies: Help us understand how visitors use the Site (for example, which pages are most popular and how users move around the Site). These may include tools such as Google Analytics and Shopify analytics.

  • Advertising and targeting Cookies: Used to deliver relevant advertisements to you on our Site and on other websites or apps and to measure the effectiveness of those ads. These may include Cookies and pixels from Meta (Facebook/Instagram), Google Ads, Klaviyo (for email and related tracking), and other marketing partners we may work with from time to time.

For more information about the cookies used by Shopify to power our store, see:
https://www.shopify.com/legal/cookies

5.2 How We Actually Handle Consent and Control

We do not currently use an EU-style cookie consent pop-up that blocks all non-essential cookies before you make a choice. Because we focus on the U.S. and Canada, Cookies (including analytics and advertising Cookies) may be set when you visit our Site, subject to your browser settings and any legal requirements that apply to you.

You can control Cookies and tracking in several ways:

  • Browser settings: Most browsers automatically accept Cookies by default, but you can set your browser to remove or reject Cookies.

  • Our “Your Privacy Choices” page: If you are in a U.S. state with specific legal rights regarding sale/sharing/targeted advertising, our Your Privacy Choices page (linked in the footer of the Site) allows you to opt out of certain data sharing with advertising and analytics partners, as provided by our Shopify privacy tools.

  • Third-party opt-out tools: Some of our partners provide their own opt-out mechanisms (for example, Google’s Ads Settings or Meta’s ad preferences), and opt-out tools may also be available through industry groups.

Please keep in mind that removing or blocking Cookies can negatively impact your user experience and may cause some parts of the Services (including certain features and general functionality) to work incorrectly or no longer be available. Blocking Cookies alone may not completely prevent how we share information with third parties such as our advertising partners, but we will honor applicable opt-out rights as described in this Privacy Policy.

6. How We Disclose Personal Information

We may disclose your personal information to third parties for legitimate purposes, consistent with this Privacy Policy.

We may disclose personal information to:

  • Vendors and service providers who perform services on our behalf, such as Shopify (ecommerce platform), payment processors, IT and hosting providers, data analytics providers (including Google and Shopify analytics tools), email and marketing providers (such as Klaviyo), fulfillment and shipping partners, and customer support providers. These service providers are typically contractually required to use personal information only as necessary to provide services to us and to protect it appropriately.

  • Business and marketing partners, including Google, Meta, Klaviyo, and similar partners, to provide services, run analytics, and advertise to you. These partners may use your information in accordance with their own privacy policies.

  • Third parties at your direction or with your consent, for example when you choose to use social media widgets or login integrations, participate in co-branded promotions, or have products shipped to another person.

  • Our affiliates, or otherwise within our corporate group, in our legitimate interests to run a successful business.

  • Other parties in connection with a business transaction, such as a merger, acquisition, reorganization, sale of assets, or bankruptcy.

  • Government authorities, regulators, and other parties as required by law or legal process, including to respond to subpoenas, search warrants, or other legal requests, and to enforce our terms or protect our rights, property, and the rights, property, and safety of our users or others.

Over the past 12 months, we have disclosed the following categories of personal information for the purposes described above:

  • Identifiers such as basic contact details and certain order and account information;

  • Commercial information such as order information, shopping information, and customer support information;

  • Internet or other similar network activity information, such as Usage Data.

These categories may have been disclosed to:

  • Vendors and service providers who perform services on our behalf (such as internet service providers, payment processors, fulfillment partners, customer support partners, and data analytics providers);

  • Business and marketing partners (including Google, Meta, Klaviyo, and Shopify); and

  • Our affiliates.

We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for the purpose of inferring characteristics about you.

7. Sale, Sharing, and Targeted Advertising – U.S. State Law

Certain U.S. state privacy laws define “sale,” “sharing,” and “targeted advertising” broadly. In some cases, our use of third-party analytics and advertising tools (including those provided by Google, Meta, Klaviyo, and Shopify) may be considered a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information, or “targeted advertising,” under these laws.

7.1 How Our Opt-Out Tools Work

We use Shopify’s privacy and compliance tools to help us manage these obligations. Where required by law, our Site:

  • Detects when you are visiting from certain U.S. states with specific privacy rights; and

  • Shows you an appropriate “Your Privacy Choices” or similar page and controls.

Through that page, eligible users can opt out of:

  • The “sale” of their personal information;

  • The “sharing” of their personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising; and/or

  • The use of their personal information for targeted advertising, as those terms are defined by applicable law.

These opt-out choices are implemented by our ecommerce platform and partners and may affect how certain analytics and advertising tools run for your browser or device.

7.2 Global Privacy Control (GPC) and Other Opt-Out Signals

Where required by applicable law, we recognize certain browser- or device-based signals as requests to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information or targeted advertising. This may include Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals.

When we detect such a signal from a browser or device in a state where the law requires recognition of that signal, we will treat it as a request to opt out of sale/sharing/targeted advertising for that browser or device, in accordance with applicable law and the capabilities of our platform and tools.

8. User-Generated Content

The Services may enable you to post product reviews and other user-generated content. If you choose to submit user-generated content to any public area of the Services, this content will be public and accessible by anyone.

We do not control who will have access to information that you choose to make available to others and cannot ensure that parties who have access to such information will respect your privacy or keep it secure. We are not responsible for the privacy or security of any information that you make publicly available, or for the accuracy, use, or misuse of any information that you disclose or receive from third parties.

We may, but are not obligated to, monitor, review, or remove user-generated content that we determine in our sole discretion violates our Terms of Service or applicable law.

9. Third Party Websites and Links

Our Site may contain links to websites or other online platforms operated by third parties. If you follow links to sites not affiliated with or controlled by us, you should review their privacy and security policies and other terms and conditions.

We do not guarantee and are not responsible for the privacy or security of such sites, including the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of information found on these sites. Information you provide on public or semi-public venues, including information you share on third-party social networking platforms, may also be viewable by other users of the Services and/or users of those third-party platforms without limitation as to its use by us or by a third party. Our inclusion of such links does not, by itself, imply any endorsement of the content on such platforms or of their owners or operators, except as disclosed on the Services.

10. Children’s Data

Our Services are not directed to, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from, children under 13 years of age (or a higher age where required by applicable law). If we become aware that a child has provided us with personal information in violation of applicable law, we will take steps to delete such information and, if applicable, terminate the child’s account.

As of the effective date of this Privacy Policy, we do not have actual knowledge that we “sell” or “share” (as those terms are defined in applicable law) the personal information of individuals under 16 years of age.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe that your child has provided us with personal information, you may contact us using the contact details set out below to request that we delete such information.

11. Security of Your Information

We implement reasonable and appropriate technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information from accidental or unlawful destruction, loss, alteration, unauthorized disclosure, or access. These measures may include encryption in transit, access controls, and other safeguards appropriate to the nature of the information and the risks involved.

However, no security measures are perfect or impenetrable, and we cannot guarantee “perfect security.” In addition, any information you send to us may not be secure while in transit. We recommend that you do not use unsecure channels to communicate sensitive or confidential information to us.

12. Retention of Your Information

How long we retain your personal information depends on various factors, including:

  • Whether we need the information to provide the Services (for example, to maintain your account or complete transactions);

  • Our legal and regulatory obligations (such as tax and accounting requirements in the U.S. and Canada);

  • Our need to resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, and protect our legal rights; and

  • Our internal policies and business needs.

By way of example, we may retain:

  • Order and transaction records for at least the period required by applicable tax and accounting laws;

  • Account information for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period thereafter; and

  • Marketing contact information until you opt out of such communications or we choose to delete it as part of our regular data hygiene processes.

When we no longer need personal information for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, we will delete or anonymize it, or if this is not possible (for example, because the information has been stored in backup archives), we will securely store it and isolate it from further use until deletion is possible.

13. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have certain rights in relation to your personal information. These rights are not absolute and may apply only in certain circumstances. In some cases, we may decline your request as permitted by law.

Where permitted by law, you may designate an authorized agent to make certain requests on your behalf. We may require proof that the agent is authorized to act for you and may require you to verify your identity directly with us.

If we decline to take action in response to your request, you may have the right to appeal our decision. Instructions for how to appeal will be provided in our response where required by law, or you may contact us again using the details below and indicate that you wish to appeal our prior decision.

13.4 Canadian Residents
